Rechargeable solar batteries store the excess electricity generated from your solar panels. You can then use the stored energy at nighttime, on cloudy days and during power outages.
You can also run your space heating and EV charger using your battery energy storage system (BESS) during non-daylight hours (maximum capacity 13.5kWh)

A range of brands are on offer and you can read about them here.

Battery System

The Tesla Powerwall 2 (PW2) is a fully integrated AC battery system for residential or light commercial use. Its rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack provides energy storage for solar self-consumption, time-based control, and backup.

The stylish, all-in-one construction features versatile mounting options for indoor or outdoor spaces. With the user-friendly Tesla app, you can monitor your home’s energy production and consumption in real time. The app also enables you to customise the settings to maximise your energy savings according to your electricity tariff.

Set your preferences to optimise your energy independence, including the level of emergency back-up power. With remote access, you can control your system from anywhere. Instant alerts will also notify you of severe weather and the system can adjust your battery storage accordingly.

Battery Box

BYD (Build Your Dreams) is a mass producer of electric vehicles (including buses) and one of the world’s largest lithium-ion battery manufacturers.

The battery box range is popular because of its easy scalability. The modular plug design requires no internal wiring and units can be stacked on top of each other. The HVS model is comprised of a base of 2 x 2.56 kWh modules (5.1kWh). Simply add on extra battery units at any time to increase the capacity up to 12.8kWh (5 units).

The battery is also compatible with leading Battery inverters, such as Fronius, SMA, GoodWe, Sungrow, Selectronic and Solis hybrid inverters. A compatible inverter enables DC coupling to solar and back-up power during black-outs, which also means less hardware (inverter) is required. The BYD B Box battery system has a power output of 12.8kW
